OSA Cricket – 13th June 2015
This year’s match took place on a warm and sunny afternoon and 21 players turned out for an enjoyable afternoon of cricket.
The Headmaster’s XI were put into bat first and racked up 121 runs before tea. There were notable performances from Luke Griffiths, who scored 26 runs before being bowled out and Alex Townley, who scored 27 runs before being caught out.
After the customary and legendary Shoreham College afternoon tea, the OSA team set about chasing the 121 run target. Louie Jones and James Harrison formed a formidable pair at the start, taking 43 and 42 runs each, respectively. This left only 37 runs needed from the rest of the team, who all had the opportunity to bat in the end. Memorable moments for the current pupils came when Alex Townley bowled out Mr Edlin and Elliot Brown, who is only in Year 9, caught out the Headmaster, who was playing in his first OSA match, on his first ball! The tension rose towards the end of the match as the last pairing went in to bat. But Ishan Patel secured victory for the OSA team as he hit a final four. The OSA team were delighted to reclaim the title having not won since 2012.
Many thanks to Peter Walker for driving all the way up from Devon to umpire the match once again. Also thanks to Mr Edlin for helping to organise the teams and setting up on the day. Finally, a big thank you to all the players, parents and other guests for turning out to play and support this enjoyable annual fixture.
