Rain doesn’t stop play for OSA Cricket Match

Overcast and gloomy conditions didn’t deter the hardy cricketers in the OSA Annual Cricket Match with the College XI. The College team was a selection of Year 10 and 11 boys plus 2012 Leavers, who all share a common passion for beating teachers, staff and Old Shorehamers!

The School team won the toss and elected to bat and scored a very respectable 112 runs from their twenty five overs. A solid display from Oliver Collins (current Year 10) helped to keep a decent run rate going throughout the innings and was joined by several other batting partners who all enjoyed a few boundaries. Amongst the many boundaries smashed by the School XI, wickets were spread amongst the OSA bowlers who all enjoyed the chance to throw down a wide variety of line and length.

Opening the batting for the OSA were James Cox and Jon Guy, who both started with flair and flamboyancy wielding the willow, with Jon scoring 19 runs. Impressive batting from Mr Edlin, who scored the most runs of the day with 53 runs, brought the OSA team to within winning range. However, the School team held their nerve and managed to get the tail-enders out before they could reach the required runs. The School team were victorious, winning the match by just four runs! Well done to all players and many thanks to the umpires; Peter Walker and Steve Collins.
