88^th Reunion Dinner – Saturday 14^th November 2015

This year’s Reunion Dinner was held once again at the Metropole in Brighton.  The President of the Association, Edward Gray, opened proceedings with a welcome plus recognition of the Senior House Representatives present: Rodney - Peter Standing (1935), Raleigh – Jimmy Holmes (1936), Nelson – Edward Gray (1933) plus two for Raleigh –Geoff Smith & Tony Rolph, both born in 1934.

During the sumptuous meal, guests moved around the tables catching up with familiar faces. Following dinner and the raffle, new Headmaster Richard Taylor-West addressed the Association. He highlighted how the OSA was a vital part of Shoreham's community, particularly in a changing world in which young people needed careers advice and a supportive network of contacts in future work places and technologies. He also encouraged members to support the election of the new President. The hotly contested ‘Guess the length of the Headmaster’s speech’ was won this year by Jonathan Court.

Following on from the Headmaster’s address, the Heads of College speech was delivered by Lily Simon and Ben Fitzpatrick-Nash. The formal events were rounded off when Christopher Wynne made recognition of the 38 years that Edward Gray had served as President of the OSA. Edward was retiring from the position and a new President would be elected in the New Year.

Following the speeches, the disco commenced and continued into the early hours for those who still had some energy! Once again, the event was very enjoyable and successful.

Thank you to all those who attended the Dinner, especially the new faces. Thanks also to James Hersheson, who took most of the photos and to David Abbott, Master of Ceremonies. Final thanks to Edward Gray, outgoing President, plus Ashley Warner and the College for their continued support of the Association.
